BREAKING: Talented CB Cam Strong commits to NC State

A cornerback for Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna, committed to NC State on Friday.

Cam Strong became a primary target at cornerback the moment the Wolfpack made an offer to him last autumn. He turned down more than ten scholarship offers, including offers from West Virginia and Georgia Tech, two other finalists.

Despite delaying its decision until October 2023, State spent a full year and a half recruiting Strong. Brian Mitchell, the Wolfpack’s coach of cornerbacks, led the recruiting efforts for the South Carolina defensive back from the beginning.

The 6-foot, 166-pound Strong stated last month, “Coach Mitchell’s been recruiting me the entire time and he’s always checking up on me.” “When it comes to hiring me, he’s been rather reliable. It’s encouraging to see that it has been a continuous effort.

“Coach Mitchell is more than just a coach, as I’ve always maintained. He’s constantly inquiring about my family. He is constantly inquiring about our well-being. That indicates to them how important I am and signifies a lot. As I mentioned before, our friendship is about more than simply football; it’s just a pretty natural thing.

He recently sent me a note stating how happy the OV is that I’m returning so I can see everything. I’ve been there three times before, so I know where it is.”

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Strong is a high three-star recruit who is listed as the No. 60 cornerback in the nation and the 12th prospect in South Carolina. Strong plans to announce his commitment in July.

Dave Doeren, the head coach of the Pack, was also instrumental in Strong’s recruitment. Doeren stated unequivocally that he intended to lead Strong at State.

Strong stated previously this year, “He’s told me I’m a priority and they want me.” It’s important to hear that from the head coach. And it also meant a lot when he visited my school.”

According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Strong is a high-three-star prospect, the nation’s No. 61 cornerback, and the 13th-ranked player in South Carolina.
