Rotherham United is preparing for its return to League One this coming season.

The last time around, Steve Evans’ team finished last in the Championship and was relegated.

The Millers are once again aiming for an instant return to the second division since they are all too familiar with this cycle of promotion and relegation.

Kioso, 24, was on loan at League One Peterborough United for a portion of the previous campaign. He made 27 appearances for Posh in all competitions, with one goal and two assists.

After being called back by Rotherham United, Kioso played in 12 Championship games and won over a large number of fans.

“There has been good interest in Peter from Championship level,” Evans stated this week.

The right back is expected to leave in the summer, according to the most recent update, which indicates Rotherham United is considering two bids of up to £600,000 and £700,000.

Fighting a losing battle

It would have helped Evans and Rotherham United if Kioso had stayed on for the next season, but it doesn’t appear like they will be able to persuade him to stay past this summer.

The right back’s current contract has one year left on it, therefore it’s critical that the team negotiate now to secure the greatest deal so they can bolster other squad members this summer.

Having made just 39 appearances in the second division over the course of four seasons, Kioso is still very inexperienced in second tier football. To truly reach his potential, he needs a stretch of games played consistently and a full season in the Championship, and that opportunity might be approaching soon.

No cause for concern

Even if it’s not ideal for the Millers, there is still a lot of hope for them in the upcoming season.

They have gained recognition for being the first team promoted from League One, and they are a favourite to win the championship again the following year.

Evans’ team has the support of their supporters, and if they can get off to a fast start, they might win everything the next season.

They have gotten off to a fast start this summer, and it doesn’t appear like they will slow down in their efforts to have their team ready for a push for promotion in the 2024–2025 season.
