Tranmere Rovers complete signing of new striker

Josh Davison, a striker for AFC Wimbledon, has signed a two-year contract with Tranmere Rovers for an unknown amount.

With Davison’s acquisition, Rovers’ attacking options will increase ahead of the 2024–2025 season and Nigel Adkins’ team is further strengthened.

With 223 career games and 66 goals—eight of which came with Wimbledon last season—the 24-year-old is already an accomplished striker.

Prior to spending three years playing under Nigel Adkins at Charlton Athletic, where he initially appeared in the Championship and League One, Davison began his career at Peterborough United.

He also spent time on loan with Forest Green Rovers and Swindon Town before joining AFC Wimbledon in July 2022.

The forward mainly operates centrally, but also represented the Dons on both wings last term.

On signing for Tranmere, Josh said: “I’m excited to be here and it’s looking good for the season ahead.

“I can’t wait. I’ve played on some noisy nights at Prenton Park so I’m excited.

“I’ve played some of my best football under the gaffer when I was at Charlton and he always made me feel confident when I was playing, so I’m looking forward to that again.”

“We are thrilled Josh has joined us. He adds another attacking dynamic to the team,” manager Nigel Adkins stated.

“Having previously managed the diligent striker, I’m really excited to watch him in a Tranmere Rovers shirt and watch him reach his full potential.”
