First Summer signing confirmed according to Fabrizo Romano

Borussia Dortmund is on the verge of making their first summer signing, Serhou Guirassy, following the departure of Head Coach Edin Terzic and decision not to renew Mats Hummel’s contract.

Serhou Guirassy, a 28-year-old striker, had a remarkable season with Stuttgart, scoring 28 Bundesliga goals and exceeding expectations. His impressive stats rank him among the league’s top performers, with the second-most goals, third-most goal involvements, third-highest expected goals, and second-most penalties won. Guirassy surpassed his expected goals tally of 20.8, solidifying his position as one of the Bundesliga’s top scorers in his second season, following a successful stint in France with Rennes, where he scored 19 goals in 31 games over three years, and a previous season with Stuttgart, where he scored 11 goals.

The financial aspects of Serhou Guirassy’s transfer are intricate. While Dortmund plans to activate his €17.5m release clause, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, the player’s demands for a substantial signing fee and a hefty annual salary of €8m are causing complications. Guirassy is seeking a four-year contract, which would keep him at the club until he’s 32, resulting in a comprehensive economic package worth between €50m to €60m.

Borussia Dortmund is facing a challenging summer transfer window, urgently requiring reinforcements in midfield, defense, and wide positions. With the loans of Jadon Sancho and Ian Maatsen ending, the club must decide whether to retain or replace them. While Niclas Füllkrug was an average striker and Sebastian Haller and Yousoufa Moukoko on the bench struggled with injuries and limited playing time, respectively, the club’s first summer signing, Serhou Guirassy, is expected to be imminent.
