Just in: Former Arsenal defender signs for Carlisle United

The Carlisle United Football Club is happy to announce that Terell Thomas, a defender, has signed a two-year contract.

Before committing to his first professional contract at Charlton Athletic as a youth, Thomas, 28, began his career at Arsenal. Before coming back to The Valley in 2022, he played for teams including Wigan Athletic, AFC Wimbledon, Crewe Alexandra, and Reading.

In addition to playing for the Addicks in 40 League One games last season, he made 12 appearances for Saint Lucia on the international scene.

Paul Simpson, the manager, expressed his happiness at Terell joining the team. This is something we’ve been working on for several weeks.

“I think he’s a great addition to the club; he’s a full international, has played English football, and recently returned from playing in a few games for Saint Lucia, where he led the side, so he has leadership skills.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing him working with us.”

The coach continues to bolster the team, saying: “We still need to address one area in defence, which is something we’re working on.

“Of course, we’re working on other projects as well, but I dislike judging whether or not anything is close since it always ends up biting me in the rear.

“We are working very hard to get players into the building and we’ll keep going until they’re here with us.”

The FA and EFL must ratify the change for it to go forward.
