5 strikers under Hartlepool united radar this summer

Hartlepool United will require another striker to cover and compete with the talisman Mani Dieseruvwe after Josh Umerah and Chris Wreh are released. These are five possibilities that Pools might investigate this summer, with recent addition Luke Charman expected to be deployed out wide.

Hartlepool United may want to sign one of these five strikers this summer:

Danny Whitehall

Danny Whitehall of Scunthorpe, who has scored 21 goals this season and is the second-highest scorer in the National League North, may be eager to rejoin the league after the Iron were eliminated from the playoffs. Physically strong and a natural number nine, Whitehall has scored goals for Eastleigh, Maidenhead, and the oddly called American semi-pro team Bugeaters FC.

Rob Harker

Since his 2020 loan stint at Pools, where he did not score in seven games but did exhibit glimpses of his future self, the 24-year-old has matured and filled out. Despite his nine goals this season and his ability to lead the line at the National League level, he was cut by Halifax. He may be a helpful backup to Mani Dieseruvwe, since he made over half of his 64 league starts with the Shaymen from the bench.

Paul Blackett

With 29 goals in 44 games, Blackett was the National League North’s top scorer at the end of the season. After spending time in the Newcastle and Sheffield United academies, the forward scored ten goals for Gateshead in the 2021–2022 season, which saw the Heed promoted to the National League. Making the transition to the National League will be difficult for the 26-year-old, who is deadly in the box and a proven goal scorer. Selected as the National League North’s player of the year, he might provide Dieseruvwe with a wonderful counterbalance to his somewhat small height.

William Harris

After an outstanding season under Graeme Lee at Spennymoor, the 23-year-old striker should appeal to new manager Darren Sarll. He is over six feet, muscular but agile, and full of confidence. Before joining Gateshead, he played for Sunderland for two years and was put on trial at Pools after being released in 2022. Since then, he has begun to adapt to men’s football, scoring 16 goals for the Moors in the previous season. The decision makes sense, and Harris will undoubtedly be eager to return to playing football on a full-time basis.

Cedric Main

Following a successful season finale at nearby rival Darlington, Pools may offer Dutch attacker Cedric Main another chance in the National League. Sarll may be drawn to his work ethic, which occasionally sacrifices goals for the team. Sarll has stated that he wants players to be prepared to make selfless sacrifices for the team. Main, who presses from the front and harasses defenders, might provide Pools an alternative since Dieseruvwe and Grey are more consistent goal scorers. The 26-year-old, who is strong and quick, didn’t receive much attention after joining York in the summer, but Pools might want to give him a shot.
